Newbie Here

First, my name is Maggi.  *waves hello*

1 a) How old are you now?
30
1 b) Male or female?
Female
2. (answer the one that applies)
a) If unmarried, are you a virgin?
Yes
3. What are/were your reasons for waiting?
As a Christian, I believe in waiting for marriage and even if I didn't...I haven't met anyone worthy of it, in all honesty.  I've never even had a boyfriend or been kissed...how sad is that? I'm not even that picky. I like all different types of guys, but when it comes down to it, I want a gentleman who will treat me like a lady and until I find that, I'm not giving my heart or myself away. =D
4. Does your faith play a factor in your decision? Would you wait even if you did not have this faith?
hehe...see above. :)
5a. Are you a complete virgin (never kissed or willfully engaged in any kind of sexual touching etc).
see above again. :) But don't get me wrong...I've thought about sex. My friends and I have had discussions and I'm as curious as anyone. If some of my friends knew some of the stuff I thought about....LOL
5b. Have you actually had the opportunity to go further than you have, had you chosen to do so?
I've had guy friends but have never been in the position where anything could or would have happened
6. Do you regret any of the physical involvement/lack thereof that you may have had
Sometimes I regret not going out with the guys who have asked me out. Granted, most of them were jerks and I had no interest in them in that way, but at least if I had dated some, I wouldn't have to deal with people questioning whether or not I am a lesbian or asking me, "whats wrong with you?" as if never have dated means that something must be wrong with be since nobody seems to want to go out. Little do they know that guys have wanted to go out with me...but I declined...and it's not because I'm gay.
7. What are you waiting for (marriage, true love, a willing partner)?
Marriage...even if I have to wait until I am 50
8. What do you feel is/was the hardest part of remaining true to your decision to wait? What would make it easier?
Well...I can do without the lesbian comments. I have gay friends and such so I'm not saying I don't like gays...but since I'm not one, I'd appreciate it if people stopped asking me if I am JUST BECAUSE I'm single at 30 and a virgin! I feel like asking them, "why do you even care?" Besides, I have some good company. Lisa Kudrow of Friends was a virgin when she married at 30. :)

I'm also tired of being around people who will start talking about sex in some way and then they'll say to me, "You shouldn't hear this. It may be too much for your virginal ears." Hello? Being a virgin does not mean that I don't know anything about sex. I just refuse to talk about it in a disrespectful way. It's a beautiful gift and the world is turning something wonderful into something trashy and acting like you should just "do it" because it's fun. Sorry, but it's more important than that to me.
9. If you could say one thing to older virgins out there, what would it be?
Don't give it away just because of peer pressure. At times I wonder if I just went out there and slept with someone, if people would stop being so mean, but ya know what? People are going to believe what they want to believe. I can sleep with every guy that comes my way, but that won't stop people from talking about me. It'll just give them something new to discuss and I won't go there. They'll go from calling me a lesbian to calling me a slut. Some people are just plain arrogant and ignorant. I just hate being 30 and feeling like I am in junior high school when I'm around certain people.
10. Tell us something about you (interests, beliefs, favo(u)rites) that will help us get to know you better.
I am totally addicted to: Clay Aiken (who I met last year), Josh Groban, LOST, Heroes, The Amazing Race, Johnny Depp, and Joaquin Phoenix. I had a true story about being a Christian single published in a book called God Allows U-Turns For Women. I just started Grad school for Journalism. I have undergrad degrees in English and Theater. I've been a Christian since I was 16 but even before then I didn't believe in pre-marital sex. I just thought it caused too many issues....and I still think that. I like to relax after work by watching Dr. Phil (and boy, there are some people I'd love to drag onto there)! =D I started a new job a month ago. I'm an office assistant and so far I like it a lot.

One of my favorite songs is Natasha Bedingfield's "Single."  I admire Corrie Ten Boom, who was a Christian sent to a concentration camp for hiding jews and she spent the rest of her life as a SINGLE woman, traveling the world to tell her story and she died when she was in her 80s (and did I metnion she was SINGLE?). I recommend her book, The Hiding Place. And here is a quote from her:

"Don’t be so preoccupied with who you aren’t, for you may forget who you are. Don’t get sidetracked by the devil so that your main goal is to find a mate. Get preoccupied with God." - Corrie Ten Boom

If anyone knows of any icons for virgins or singles, please pass them on my way. Thanks! :)

welcome! :-D nice quote, btw!
<--My virgin icon. It's poking fun at myself, a bit. It's by opheliaicons, and it's a quote from the movie Robin Hood: Men in Tights.
Welcome to the community.
What are you planning to do with your Journalism degree(s)?
I'm in my senior year of a CommArts/Jou degree, training as a copy editor.
You make many good points in your intro. :)
